What is it about: This film is crime thriller which ponders the treacherous act of chain snatching in the metropolitan city of Chennai. It revolves around a bunch of chain snatchers and the modus operandi behind it. The film is directed by Ananda Krishnan from the movie “Aal” fame.

Why it’s disappointing: There’s hardly anything negative to ponder on, the movie had a mismatch of characters which could have been better with an intensive audition during the selection. The lead character played by Sirish was quite wooden and lacked emotions which were required during the vital scenes.

Apart from that, I felt the background score was quite excessive which is filled throughout the film. It could have been used at appropriate situations, which would have been a great strength for a movie of this subject.

Bobby Simha had a very small part to play, and didn’t have the punch required for that character.

What to watch out for: The film had a great premise on which Ananda Krishnan built a convincing story which beautifully reveals the dark side of our metro. It doesn’t preach the practice but throws quite a strong light on the crime which has terrorized many.

The film has a steady narration which meticulously moves through the loop holes it leaves behind. Even though it has few shortcomings it does jump the hoops brilliantly.

The character Madhi played by Sathya was a good one and he did an impressive job. He had the traits of a newbie in to crime scene and the desperation to attain more came naturally to him. He did a commendable job.

The film had a good cinematographer Uthaya Kumar, who captured the crime in a neat way. And that was crisply edited by Ramesh Baarathi. The film’s music by Johan was decent, background score was good a bit excessive but was good.

Verdict: Ananda Krishnan with his second outing did a neat job in deriving a crime thriller which fulfils the generic requirement for the genre. And he added few elements which made the generic little more than what it was and resulted in a racy thriller. Definitely worth a watch.
