What is it about: It’s a 3D animated live action movie, which is based on the children’s book of the same name written by R.L.Stine. This fantasy adventure film is directed by Rob Letterman. A new teen on the block Zach (Dylan Minnnette) bumps in to a sweet neighbour Hannah Stine (Odeya Rush) daughter of RL Stine (Jack Black). Mr. Stine keeps a short leash on the daughter guarding a secret, which on an unfortunate night Zach discovers and that brings mayhem to their Madison town.

Why it’s disappointing: The film runs at Godspeed, I wonder why the hurry could have taken some time to breathe and established the characters even better.

What to watch out for: Being a fantasy flick based on children’s book, this one has a humour which grabs attention from everyone regardless of the age group. And when you put Jack Black as the lead, the comedy has its own flavour. It takes you on a fantastical trip which introduces you to many fictional characters who seem to charm you in their own way.

Jack Black did a great job as RL Stein and keeps a thorough mood, entertaining us. That was followed by the rest of the cast, as all of them were good regardless of the role given to them.

The VFX was spectacular which brought the interesting characters alive in 3D from RL Stine’s book. They infused animation and live action meticulously making it a treat to watch. The 3D was well done, as it was not on you face, when a movie is made like that it appeals you a lot and does not irritate your 3D experience. The cinematography was good as this one had more scope for VFX and the editing was crisp.

Rob made a movie which makes sure to get everyone’s attention from 6-60, as it makes you forget the logic behind the scattered humour in the screenplay.

Verdict: Rob Letterman, brings together all the famous fictional characters which in fact gives you “Goosebumps” this Halloween with a dash of humour in it. Definitely worth a watch.
