Gautham Menon is one of the Director in tamil cinema who uses voiceovers and unique techniques for directing most of his films. The voiceover idea has been his identity since his early film career and most of his films had voiceovers. Now the Director has been approached by Discovery channel to give voiceover for the new documentary ‘ COVID 19: India’s war against the virus’.
The director stated that it was a learning process recording for the documentary. The Director explained that what it took to take up the job for recording the documentary. The director explained that even though he is a Director who who does feature films and also now has been working with different ideas like web series, making a documentary and putting together images always fascinated him. And when he got the chance to become the narrator or do add voiceover for a film against India’s war against the virus seemed like a good opportunity to him.
The documentary was made by discovery channel and will feature all the key measures implemented to control the spread of Coronavirus and will also feature various personalities talking about India’s measures taken by india which is apart from other countries. The documentary is shot entirely during the lockdown period it also includes interviews of patients, migrant workers,doctors and various other prominent personalities.
The documentary is available in seven languages which are English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali. And it has been released on July 16 on Discovery+ app and was premiered on discovery channel and discovery HD channel on July 20 . GVM was last seen in his Dhanush and Megha Akash starrer ‘Enai noki paayum thota’ and the Director also wrote the screenplay for the webseries ‘Queen’ starring Ramya Krishnan, Anikha Surendran, etc and is based on the life of TN’s late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
