Even before Mr.Chandramouli, Thiru was supposed to do a film titled ‘Garuda’ for Chiyaan Vikram but the producers were not ready to invest a massive budget for the film so the director moved on to Mr. Chandramouli.
Thiru says that he started the script of Mr.Chandramouli as a film on the father-son relationship but the director didn’t see the genre as a mere family drama. In Mr.Chandramouli, audiences can witness romance, love and action elements, says the director.
Thiru’s first choice is to have Karthik on board and the director believes only Navarasa Nayagan can fill the void left by him in the industry. The director says Karthik’s son Gautham’s inclusion is another happy addition and watching the duo perform naturally is a treat. Thiru watched Regina Cassandra’s Maanagaram and the trailer of Nenjam Marapathillai, the director says he loved the expressions of the actress and immediately decided that she is the heroine of Mr.Chandramouli.
Thiru also revealed that it was director Suseenthiran who suggested the title Mr. Chandramouli to him and actor Karthik was quite excited to know that the title is derived from his popular dialogue in Mani Ratnam’s Mounaragam.
Produced by Dhananjayan, Sam CS of Vikram Vedha fame is scoring the songs and background score of the film. The film also has comedy actor Sathish, Viji Chandrasekar and Varalakshmi playing important roles.
